Your trusted landing platform in Cape Town

Rent-A-Room is more than accommodation — we’re the home base international students and interns rely on when they arrive in Cape Town. As part of the VACorps ecosystem, we handle the hardest part of moving abroad: giving you a safe, vetted place to land from day one, with people who know the city and have your back. Tell us your arrival and departure dates below and we’ll match you to the right room.

How our pricing works

Across our ecosystem, every room is graded — A+, A, or B — so you know exactly what you’re paying for. Choose the grade that fits your budget and comfort:

  • A+ — Premium. Our best rooms: prime location, the most space, and top finishes and furnishings.
  • A — Standard plus. Comfortable, well-appointed rooms in our most popular houses — the sweet spot of value and quality.
  • B — Essential. Clean, safe, great-value rooms with everything you need to settle in affordably.

Short-term rates (per day)

  • Category A+: $28 per day
  • Category A: $26 per day
  • Category B: $23 per day

Long-term rates (4 months plus, per month)

  • Category A+: R9 850 per month
  • Category A: R9 350 per month
  • Category B: R8 850 per month

Deposits & fees

  • Short-term: $250 refundable housing deposit, $100 once-off lease/cleaning fee, electricity at $1 per day.
  • Long-term: refundable deposit equal to one month’s rent, R1 500 once-off lease/cleaning fee, electricity at R18 per day.

Every grade includes the same safe, supported, community-driven Rent-A-Room experience. Send us your dates and the property you’re interested in, and we’ll confirm current availability and the exact price for your stay.
